Nigeria won two more medals at the ongoing Africa Senior Weightlifting Championship in Egypt on Tuesday as Edidiong Umoafia claimed two silver medals. Competing in the 73kg men’s category, the 2022 CommonwealthBronze medalist lifted 144kg in snatch and 170kg in clean and jerk with a total of 314. The two silver medals have taken Nigeria’s medal haul at the championship to 8. Recall that Rafiatu Lawal won three gold while Adijat Olarinoye claimed three silver medals on Tuesday. The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) warned that SIM cards that are not linked to the owners National Identity Number (NIN) will be deactivated by the end of February. NCC vice chairman, Aminu Maida, said this in an introductory meeting with the media in Abuja, this announcement follows a 2021 policy requiring NIN linkage with SIMs. Maida also reaffirmed NCC collaboration with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) and relevant security agencies in telecommunication-linked crimes in the country.
