Professor Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), in a recent interview disclosed instances of alleged extortion and data mismanagement by certain private secondary schools during the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration process.
Oloyede emphasized that these private schools are mishandling candidate data, as each individual is expected to register independently using their personal phones.
Notably, he underscored that last year, JAMB established 11 UTME centers specifically designed for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
The creation of these specialized centers aimed to ensure equal opportunities for all UTME candidates.
Oloyede elaborated on the decision, stating that recognizing the unique needs of persons with disabilities led to the establishment of these centers, achieved with the assistance of individuals and organizations.
Confirming the commencement of registration for the 2024 UTME last week, Oloyede announced that the process would conclude within the next four weeks.
