Ahead of the September 21st 2024 governorship election in Edo State, the All Progressives Congress in Edo State has received crowd of defectors from the People’s Democratic Party, Labour Party and other political parties.
The defecting members, many of whom were previously active members of the APC were received on Saturday at a grand reception held in Benin City.
Notable among them is former Senator representing Edo South Senatorial District, Mathew Urhoghide and his supporters. Others are 8 immediate past Local Government Chairmen including Frank Ilaboya of Owan-West, Scot Ogbemudia of Ovia North-East, Napoleon Agbanma of Uhunmwonde John Akhigbe of Etsako Central among others.
Also received were Labour Party Decampees from Ovia North-East lead by Mrs. Ehigiamusoe Osamede and a section of Igbo Community in Edo State lead by Mr. Martins Ananyo.
Addressing a crowd of Party supporters and decampees, the Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and the State Chairman of the APC, Emperor Jareth Tenebe assured them of equal right and opportunities, describing their coming as boost to the party’s chances.
Senator Urhoghide explains his return to the party was a home coming and his mission is to help build the party for victory ahead of the upcoming election.
Meanwhile, Senator Urhoghide had been nominated to serve as Director General of Monday Okpebholo/Denis Idahosa Campaign Organisation.
He was nominated by Senator Adams Oshiomhole, an offer he promptly accepted, promising to help the party retention to power.
