Tiger Woods made a noteworthy return to the PGA Tour at the Genesis Invitational on Thursday, completing his first official round in a PGA Tour event since the Masters 10 months ago.
The 15-time major champion, who underwent ankle surgery in April 2023, posted a one-over-par 72.
Currently tied for 55th, Woods faces the challenge of making the cut, as only the top 50 players advance after 36 holes.
He trails leader Patrick Cantlay by eight strokes, with Cantlay finishing the day on a seven-under 64.Woods exhibited a mix of performance, carding five birdies and five bogeys during the round.
Despite a promising start, he concluded the day with a bogey, sparked by an unexpected shank to the right on the 18th fairway.
Notably, Woods’ last PGA Tour victory was at the 2019 Zozo Championship in Japan, where he equaled Sam Snead’s record of 82 Tour victories.
Since sustaining leg injuries in a car crash in 2021, his tournament appearances have been limited, adding anticipation to his return to competitive play.
