President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will no longer be in attendance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire in Abidjan on Sunday.
Despite earlier indications from Confederation of African Football President Patrice Motsepe that President Tinubu would be present, Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, revealed on Saturday that President Tinubu has directed him to lead a presidential delegation to the final.
Senator Shettima, who previously stood in for President Tinubu during the semi-final match against South Africa, emphasized his continued representation for the final.
The highly anticipated clash between Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire is scheduled at the Alassane Quattara Stadium, Ebimpe, Abidjan, at 9 pm on Sunday.
