The Presidency firmly denies any plans to relocate the Federal Capital to Lagos, dismissing the speculation as unfounded.
Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, conveyed this in a statement shared on his official handle on Wednesday.
Onanuga labeled those spreading the rumor as dishonest, emphasizing that they are driven by ethnic and regional motives, attempting to garner attention.
He asserted that the proponents of this misinformation are engaging in dangerous politics, seeking to create division between the North and the South.
Highlighting the permanence of Abuja as the Federal Capital, Onanuga cited legal backing for its establishment.
The statement was issued in response to concerns raised following the relocation of FAAN, a department of the Aviation Ministry, to Lagos.
Onanuga emphasized that various parastatals operate outside Abuja based on their mandates, stressing the importance of avoiding politicization of administrative decisions.
