In the wake of the recent introduction of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) by Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, law enforcement has successfully apprehended 16 notorious criminals and seized arms and ammunition within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Among the individuals paraded on Saturday, three Bwari-based kidnappers—Idris Ishaku (27 years old), Bala Umar (27 years old), and Dahiru Salisu (27 years old)—were disclosed as the culprits behind a series of armed robbery incidents and kidnappings in the Bwari Local Government Area and other regions of Abuja.
According to a statement by Force Spokesman Muyiwa Adejobi, a collaborative team of operatives arrested an additional 13 suspects involved in various criminal activities.
The achievements include the prevention of another kidnapping plot through technical intelligence, leading to the apprehension of the aforementioned Bwari-based kidnappers and the recovery of weapons from their possession.
The statement also addressed the public outcry following the abduction of six siblings and their father in the Bwari Area Council of Abuja on January 3rd, 2024.
Tragically, one of the sisters, identified as Nabeehah, lost her life after the kidnappers reportedly executed her when their parents couldn’t meet the N60 million ransom deadline.
Adejobi reassured the public that law enforcement has been actively pursuing criminals, resulting in several arrests.
