Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, disclosed on Friday that the state would be exploring both legal and political avenues to resolve the crisis resulting from the sacking of lawmakers.
Last November, the Court of Appeal dismissed 16 members of the Plateau State House of Assembly, along with five members of the House of Representatives and two senators, all contesting on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), due to a pre-election matter.
With the state House of Assembly scheduled to resume next week, concerns arise that the remaining eight PDP members may not inaugurate the new members, given the fear that they may not meet the required quorum after the Appeal Court’s decision.
In response to questions about the situation, Governor Mutfwang, who mentioned that he was at the Villa for a thank-you visit to President Bola Tinubu, expressed gratitude for not interfering in the judiciary’s functions and allowing the courts to deliver justice independently.
He stated that all possible options are under consideration.
Governor Mutfwang also briefed President Tinubu on the security situation, particularly the Christmas period attacks on the Plateau.
