In a display of solidarity and support for the less privileged, the Kwara State Government recently received a shipment of 1,200 bags of rice from the Federal Government.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, moved by the urgency of the situation, promptly directed the immediate distribution of the food aid through local government structures in the state.
Emphasizing transparency and inclusivity, the Governor insisted on involving various stakeholders, including community-based groups and traditional institutions, to compile the list of beneficiaries on a non-partisan basis.
He said that the move ensures that the assistance reaches those who truly need it, regardless of political affiliations.
He added that the shipment is not the only one, as the state eagerly awaits three more trucks of bags of rice from the Federal Government, with plans to distribute them in a similar manner.
Governor AbdulRazaq expressed deep gratitude to the Federal Government, especially President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the thoughtful gesture.
It’s worth noting that the Kwara State Government has been proactive in offering palliatives to support its citizens.
These initiatives include ongoing efforts to provide stipends to students of Kwara State origin, aiming to alleviate the effects of the fuel subsidy removal.
