The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) calls on INEC to Update Records and Affirms Expulsion of Senator Kwankwaso.
In a statement issued on Saturday by Dr. Temitope Aluko, Chairman of NNPP’s Board of Trustees (BoT), the party urges INEC to update its records regarding the National Executive Committee (NEC) membership.
Emphasizing that Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso remains expelled, the party calls for adherence to NNPP’s constitution in recognizing only duly elected officers.
Aluko highlights that NNPP leaders, including Kwankwaso and the entire old National Working Committee (NWC) led by Alhaji Abbah Kawu, have been expelled.
He asserts that INEC lacks authority to intervene in a political party’s internal affairs, emphasizing the constitutionally provided mandate and powers of INEC to register, control, and regulate political parties.
The BOT chairman underscores the abuse of constitutional provisions by NNPP chieftains, citing the unceremonious exits of former National Chairman Professor Rufai Alkali, Professor Angwe Samuel, and Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi.
Aluko expresses concerns about corruption, high-handedness, lack of transparency, and accountability within the defunct NNPP National Working Committee (NWC).
