Nigerian Army Football Clubs have emeged champions of the men’s and women’s FA Cup competitions in Kaduna State.
The men’s team Green Beret defeated Simon Ben Football Academy 2-0 goals in the final while the Army’s women’s side, Gallant Queens humbled Kada Queens 6-0 in the final played at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium on Saturday.
The Acting Director of Physical Training Army, Brigadier General Abdulrahim Bello expressed delight with his side’s victories adding that the clubs will represent the state creditably at the national Federation Cup.
Brigadier General Bello who admitted that Simon Ben FC gave Green Beret a tough match, said it is time for the Army team to get prepared for the league.
He dedicated the trophies to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja for his support in financing the teams.
The Brigadier General also commended the efforts of the technical crew of Green Beret and assured the coaches of support while promising not to interfere in their selection of players.
He however said he is ready to offer technical observations to achieve good results.
General Bello insisted that the Army has quality players capable of helping Green Beret compete for honours.
