The Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh, has tasked the Super Falcons of Nigeria to defeat Banyana Banyana of South Africa in the second leg of their Olympic qualifiers on Tuesday in Pretoria.
The minister said this in a statement in Abuja.
The Super Falcons, who have not qualified for the women’s football event of the Olympics in 16 years, piped Bayana Bayana 1-0 in the first leg in Abuja on Friday.
Enoh stressed that having missed out on the 2012, 2016, and 2020 Olympic Games, it was time to reclaim their spot on the international stage.
He emphasised the importance of self-belief and resilience in achieving victory on Tuesday.
The minister encouraged the team to soar to new heights and ultimately break the 16 year Olympic jinx.
He consequently called on all Nigerians to rally behind the team, stressing the power of unity of purpose in the national assignment ahead.
