Senator Ashiru demonstrated a high level of purposefulness and pragmatic representation during the ministerial screening of Mr. Dele Alake, who is one of the nominees of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his first batch of 28 ministerial nominees sent to the National Assembly.
In his submission, Senator Ashiru asked the nominee, Mr. Dele Alake, who is likely to be the helmsman at the Ministry of Information and Culture about what he intends ro do differently to promote tourism and generate more revenues from touristy places. Senator Ashiru was strategic and diplomatic in his approach to promote tourists attraction sites in Kwara South Senatorial District by referencing Owu Water fall in Owa Kajola as the tallest water fall in West Africa and Esie Museum as the first of its kind in Africa.
Though many questions were advanced from the Senators to the nominees since the commencement of screening of the Ministerial nominees by the Senate. Very few of the Senators were as passionate as Senator Ashiru when asking questions related to their respective senatorial districts.
Similarly, Senator Ashiru exhibited another sense of people-oriented and pragmatic representation while affirming the competency of one of his constituents in person of Mr. Lateef Fagbemi SAN from Ijagbo ward of Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State. From all indications, Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi, an accomplished Nigerian lawyer who became a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) at record time of 10 years at the Bar, is set to become Nigeria’s 24th Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice. Abubakar Malami’s successor.
Sen Ashiru cited the need for the instrumentality of the law to promote peaceful co-existence and mitigate against communal imbroglio such as Share/Tsharagi in Ifelodun L.G, Ife/Modakeke, Offa/Erin-Ile among others in a bid to find a legal and lasting solution to the age-long communal crisis across the nation. Lo and behold! A genuine and purposeful representation is not all about noise making but pragmatic statement as displayed by Senator Oyelola Yissa Ashiru.
The systemic way of presentation by Senator Ashiru prioritising the peculiarities of Kwara South on the floor of the Senate is an affirmation of “KWARA SOUTH IN A SAFE HANDS”
All I see is total positivity for you and me.
Ashiru is making us proud!
