The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially released the comprehensive report on the 2023 general elections, as announced by its National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun.
The report, unveiled almost a year after the elections took place, addresses concerns raised by some Nigerians regarding the delayed uploading of presidential election results to the INEC result viewing portal.
In a statement on Friday, Olumekun clarified that the election report underwent thorough review and received approval for publication during the commission’s weekly meeting held on Thursday.
He emphasized that this release aligns with INEC’s established tradition over the last four electoral cycles and underscores its commitment to transparency.
The extensive 526-page document is structured into 13 chapters and enriched with 60 tables, 14 boxes, and 10 graphs.
It provides a detailed analysis of key election processes, achievements, challenges, and valuable lessons learned from the 2023 elections.
The report delves into various aspects, including logistics, security arrangements, staff recruitment and training, inclusivity measures, and the electoral framework.
Olumekun highlighted that the commission encourages feedback from the public to contribute to future electoral reforms and improvements.
This proactive approach aims to enhance the electoral process and foster greater transparency in subsequent elections.
