Nigeria Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, has recounted how the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu came to the rescue of former governor of Oyo State and the Osi Olubadan, Chief Rasheed Ladoja in his embattled days.
Fashola stated this in a recent interview.
According to him, the Osi Olubadan has been salvaged by Tinubu in his own battle.
Recall Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja became governor of Oyo State on 29 May 2003 as a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He was impeached in January 2006, but reinstated in December 2006. His term ended in 2007.
Olusegun Obasanjo, former president of Nigeria, has attributed the impeachment to “being ungrateful to Chief Lamidi Adedibu and Chief Yekinni Adeojo.”
Fashola said: “Let me say this, I have been saving it for my memoirs. When Governor Ladoja was removed as Governor (of Oyo State) in Ibadan through apparently illegal process, it was to Lagos he came and I know and I won’t say more about that part.
“But let me say that I rest on Sundays I used to play football and Sundays are like my day off that he (Tinubu) would not call me. And he was the ADC. He said the boss wanted to see me. When I came he said, “Tunde, I am sorry, I know this is your day off but I need you to do something for me.” Yemi, the present vice president was the attorney-General was in camp. He said, “just bring your constitution, bring your law books, I need you to research something for me.
