Nigerians have been called upon to troop out massively on Saturday, February 25 to exercise their democratic right peacefully.
A pro-Tinubu’s group, Coalition for Good Governance Network, CGGN, made the plea in a statement jointly signed by Michael Musa and Ajayi Olushola, its national coordinator and secretary on Friday, in Abuja.
The group reminded voters that votes could only count and reflect true wishes being made through the ballot, when conducted peacefully.
“After interfacing with the Nigerian people by all candidates for this election, it would only amount to the expected wishes, when votes are not cancelled as a result of violence or any electoral malfeasance.
“We appeal to electorate to conduct themselves orderly, peacefully and creditably to make the exercise worth the efforts already made to guarantee a flawless polls,” the group noted.
The CGGN then appealed to security agencies and stakeholders in the electoral process, to ensure that peace reigns during and after the Saturday presidential and National Assembly elections across the country.
Speaking on the chances of its choice candidate, the statement noted that the All Progressives Congress, APC’s standard bearer, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has demonstrated through his campaign that the nation will be safe and better under him if elected.
“We have not minced words from the beginning that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu represents the future Nigerians desire, and having carried out a sound and informative campaign that resonates with the needs of Nigerians across all sectors, we are confident he will emerge victorious,” the CGGN said.
The group also made overtures to presidential candidates across political parties to accept the outcome of the elections in good faith as it reechoed in the imperatives of seeking legitimate channels to redress whatever grievances may occur as a result of the elections.
“As democrats, we expect that whoever has participated in this contest so far can relate with the pains of our nation with the understanding that only one among them will emerge as president, and for other offices being contested.
“Our preferred candidate, Asiwaju Tinubu is a democrat and lover of peace, we then call upon others to imbibe these his attributes in the best interest of our nation and protection of this democracy,” the statement urged.
The group also appealed to Nigerians to put the hardships being experienced due to the shortage of Naira and fuel behind them and come out to vote on Saturday.
“Nigerians cannot afford to stand aloof when opportunity like this presents itself to address their pains over the issues of Naira crunch and fuel scarcity. We can only solve these and others if we vote a leaders that will put a stop to our agonies like Asiwaju Tinubu,” the statement read.
