Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, along with the All Progressives Congress (APC), has intervened in the recent turmoil at the State House of Assembly, sparked by the impeachment of Speaker Olakunle Oluomo.
Following the removal of Oluomo by 18 out of 26 assembly members on Tuesday, he was accused of embezzlement.
Subsequently, Oludaisi Elemide emerged as the new speaker.
Two days after this development, the Ogun State Government acknowledged the event, emphasizing its commitment to resolving the issues democratically.
Governor Abiodun’s media aide, Kayode Akinmade, stated on Thursday that the government is collaborating with the APC leadership to address the internal wrangling that persisted in the Assembly.
Akinmade stressed that the government aims to ensure the resolution of these issues in a fair, just, and democratic manner.
He pointed out that the House of Assembly members have the prerogative to choose their leadership in accordance with the constitution and applicable laws, recognizing the need for intervention in the face of prolonged internal conflicts.
