Femke Bol of the Netherlands shattered her own world record to win the world indoor 400 metres gold in Glasgow on Saturday.
Bol, the two-time world 400 metres hurdles champion, clocked 49.17 seconds to beat her previous best, set last month, by 0.07 seconds.
Her Dutch teammate Lieke Klaver took silver and American Alexis Holmes bronze.
There was an upset in the men’s 400 metres, however, as Belgium’s Alexander Doom edged Norwegian favourite Karsten Warholm at the line to claim victory in a national record of 45.25 seconds.
Warholm, the world record holder, three-time outdoor champion and Olympic gold medallist in the 400 metres hurdles, took the silver, with Jamaica’s Rusheen McDonald clinching the bronze.
American Grant Holloway extended his remarkable 10-year winning streak to retain his 60 metres hurdles title.
Holloway clocked 7.29 seconds to match the championship record he set two years ago in Belgrade.
Lorenzo Ndele Simonello of Italy took silver in a national record of 7.43 seconds, with Just Kwaou-Mathey of France claiming bronze.
