The Federal Government announced on Sunday that the planned relocation of the headquarters of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and certain departments of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and minimizing operating costs.
Addressing concerns, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, refuted claims that these moves within the two agencies carry political undertones to marginalize a specific region.
Contrary to objections raised by Senator Ali Ndume from Borno South, as well as figures from the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Northern Elders Forum (NEF), and other northern groups, alleging potential marginalization of the north, the minister emphasized that such allegations are baseless.
He clarified that the decisions reflect pragmatic administrative measures intended to streamline operations, ultimately improving efficiency and reducing operational costs.
