Comrade Salaudeen A. Lukman alias Eluku Omo Adugbo has berated Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led Kwara State Government over its inability to produce commissioners for the state nor make the reported nominees public.
Eluku is a former Kwara State House of Assembly Candidate for Ojomu Balogun Constituency under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He also blamed the emergence of different Commissioner-nominees lists on AbdulRazaq and his cohorts.
He said, “precedence remains a significant reference which often turns a trend for others to build upon. As a patriotic Nigerian, concern Kwaran and young generation ambassador, it has became pertinent to ask this fundermental question of general interest: which of the two arms of the governments in Kwara state is responsible for current autopilot mode of the state? .
“It is worrisome to have a state like Kwara which Governor recently benefited from the Nigerian zoning system to become Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), but leaves the state he governs to suffer a great setback in governance. It is not out of place to say there is no government in Kwara presently. The state has a Governor in absentia, incapable governor’s deputy, no Secretary to State Government and no Chief of Staff to Governor appointed. This is akin to autopilot.
“An administration that almost broke bank to win second term in office now appears inept to lead Kwara to her prosperity as promised in their manifestos.
“Kwarans seem to be deceived by a public statement issued by Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Mr Sheu Yusuf, on the 27th July, 2023 stating Governor requested for screening and approvals of 20 commissioner-nominees sent and 10 Special Assistants, this has been proved to be a washed-up press statement as the Kwara State House of Assembly refuses to commence screening of the said nominees.
The state has failed to meet the 60-day constitutional deadline. It is day 69; thus nine days after the constitutional deadline for cabinent formation and appointments.
“It’s therefore a necessity to ask who is fooling Kwarans; His Excellency or The Speaker and Members of Kwara State House of Assembly? The violation of the constitution which mandates elected governors and President to appoint cabinet members within 60 days after assumption of office is being deliberately committed by Kwara State Governor and/or the 10th KWHA? What else to call this if not negligence of constitutional duties and responsibilities?”
Comrade Salaudeen thereafter called on the leadership of the House to come clean on the constitutional matter to enable Kwarans know who want to make the state stagnant.
