Nigeria Women Football League Super Six contenders, Edo Queens thrashed Kada Queens of Kaduna 8-2 on Wednesday in Abuja in the Round of 32 of the President Federation Cup to advance to the round of 16.
Edo Queens began the demolition job in the 4th minute with a superb goal from Kafayat Mafisere. Emem Essien made it 2-0 in the 5th minute before Captain Suliat Abideen got the 3rd goal in the 12th minute.
Kada Queens pulled a goal back in the 20th minute before Goodness Osigwe netted the 4th goal for Edo Queens in the 35th to end the first half 4-1.
Essien completed her brace in the 58th minute to put Edo Queens 5-1 up and Mariam Abdulrasheed scored the 6th and 7th goals in the 70th and 79th minutes.
A goal from Godwin Eunice in the 90th minute completed the rout but it was credit to Kada Queens that they still managed to score in the 92nd minute to make the final result 8-2 to Edo Queens.
Captain Abideen dedicated the victory to Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki and First Lady, Dr Betsy Obaseki.
She promised that they would work hard to win trophies for the state to reciprocate the support they have received from the Edo State Government and the First Lady.
In other some other Round of 32 encounters on Wednesday, the other Edo State representatives, Fortress Ladies fought bravely but lost 2-1 to 5-time champions, Delta Queens in Akure. Remo Stars Ladies spanked Osklean Football Academy 4-0 while the Nigerian Army team, Gallant Queens lost 2-0 to Osun Babes.
Honey Badgers beat Plateau United Queens 3-1 while Sunshine Queens also overcame Greenfoot FC 3-1.
