The Federal High Court in Abuja issued an arrest warrant for the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Rivers State, Honorable Edison Ehie, along with five others.
The ruling by Justice Emeka Nwite stems from allegations of complicity in the invasion, vandalization, and burning of the Rivers State House of Assembly complex.
Apart from Ehie, who previously served as the factional Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, the court ordered the arrest of Jinjiri Bala, Happy Benedict, Progress Joseph, Adokiye Oyagiri, and Chibuike Peter, also known as Rambo.
The directive followed an ex-parte application brought by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), citing relevant sections of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015 and the Constitution.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Simon Lough, SAN, presenting the application, informed the court that the six defendants are currently evading authorities.
The charges include conspiracy, arson, terrorism, attempted murder, and the murder of Superintendent of Police, SP Bako Agbashim, along with five other police informants in Rivers State.
