The Coalition of Nigerian Canadian Interest Groups (CONCIG), a network of Nigerian Canadian socio-economic and good governance organizations based in Canada is set to host the Presidential flag bearer of the Labour Party in the last general elections in Nigeria and former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, to a town hall meeting in Toronto, Canada.
The CONCIG maiden event is part of the group’s efforts in initiating collaborations between Canadian and Nigerian governments as well as global political stakeholders towards good governance.
Obi would be the keynote speaker amongst other invited guests; Nigerians and Canadians in the public sector and will be speaking on the theme, Capacity Building, and Inclusiveness in Governance.
Also expected to grace the occasion are Nigerian and Canadian political players including Bassey Osagie, the former gubernatorial Labour Party Aspirant of Edo State.
In a statement highlighting the plan of the event, the coalition Lead, Vwede Obahor noted the collaboration is part of many initiatives by the group to add value to Nigeria and Canada’s democratic dispensation and polity.
He added that as Nigerians residing in Canada, they want to be part of nation building in both their host and home countries by bringing some select Nigerian business and political players to come and have an interaction with political stakeholders in Canada.
He expressed belief it will go a long way to not only forge some high-level engagements and relationships which Canada and Nigeria need but also engender an improved collaboration in the areas of socio-economic interests.
The Town hall meeting, which is scheduled to take place at Hilton Garden Inn, on Friday, May 3, 2024, by 5pm Eastern Time, will also feature a breakfast meeting by 7:00am on the same date and venue to enable for a one-one-one interaction with the keynote speaker.
