As Nigeria’s Super Eagles prepare for their quarter final match with the Palancas Negras of Angola in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, coach Jose Peseiro will have to play the game without Captain Ahmed Musa and Right Back, Bright Osayi-Samuel.
Musa who is yet to feature in the competition, injured his thigh in training this week and has since not trained with the rest of the squad.
Fenerbache defender Osayi-Samuel is also out with a knee problem.
He has so far made two appearances for Nigeria in Cote d’Ivoire.
There was however positive news for Nigeria ahead of the game with Angola as goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has passed all fitness tests and returned to full training on Wednesday.
The Chippa United shot stopper was a major doubt after coming off in Nigeria’s 2-0 win over Cameroon in the Round of 16.
He collided with Cameroon winger Georges-Kevin N’Koudou in the second half of the game and was unable to continue.
Nwabali’s return to fitness is a major boost to Nigeria as he has been impressive since becoming Super Eagles first choice goalkeeper ahead of Francis Uzoho
