British boxer, Sherif Lawal has died after collapsing during his professional debut on Sunday.
The Associated Press reports that the 29-year-old Lawal was hit on the head in the fourth of six scheduled rounds at Harrow Leisure Centre in London by opponent Malam Varela.
Lawal was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The management of Warren Boxing Promotions released a statement on Monday which said the boxer unfortunately died after collapsing during the fight and despite best efforts to revive him, he passed away.
The British Boxing Board of Control has sent its condolences to the family of Lawal following his tragic passing.
