The Trade Union Congress, TUC and Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC have shelved planned nationwide strike, following an agreement with the federal government. The National Industrial Court earlier on Monday granted an order restraining the NLC and TUC from embarking on industrial action on Wednesday. A Federal High Court, Abuja, on Monday, awarded a N10 million fine against Mr Festus Keyamo, the immediate-past Minister of State for Labour and Employment for filing a frivolous suit against Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate in the Feb. 25 election. Justice James Omotosho, in a ruling, awarded a N5 million fine each in favour of Abubakar and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, ICPC, totalling a N10 million against Keyamo. The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN)cour has declared industrial action over the removal of fuel subsidy. The pump price of fuel tripled after President Bola Tinubu declared that fuel subsidy was gone. The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) had directed its retail station to jerk up the price of fuel per litre from N197 to between N488 and N570. The Ogun State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta on Monday commenced hearing of the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu, against Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The Kwara State Government has approved a temporary palliative measure to bring some ease to workers following the removal of petrol subsidy by the Federal Government. The State Head of Service, Mrs Susan Modupe Oluwole announced today that the State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has directed that the workdays be reduced from five days to three days per week for every worker.
