The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially declared the Saturday governorship primary election in Edo State inconclusive.
This decision comes in the wake of significant controversy surrounding the poll, leading to the emergence of three different candidates for the upcoming September 21 gubernatorial election.
Governor Hope Uzodinma, serving as the Chairman of the Electoral Committee for the primary, announced Dennis Idahosa as the winner.
In contrast, the returning officer, Stanley Ugboaja, declared Monday Okpebholo as the rightful victor.
Adding to the confusion, Ojo Babatunde, self-identifying as a spokesperson for returning officers across all local governments, declared Anamero Dekeri as the election’s winner.
In response to the chaotic circumstances, the party’s leadership convened on Tuesday at the APC national secretariat in Abuja.
Addressing the media post-meeting, National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka conveyed that the election remained inconclusive.
He emphasized that the process would resume on Thursday, February 22, 2024, as the NWC has determined to complete the APC Edo State primary election.
