Nigerian sprint sensation and 100 meters hurdles world record holder, Tobi Amusan has been cleared to compete at the Paris 2024 Olympics after the Court of Arbitration for Sports, CAS dismissed appeals filled by World Athletics and World Anti-Doping Agency, WADA against her over a doping offense on Friday.
27 year old Amusan was charged in July 2023 with missing three anti-doping tests in a period of 12 months but she was cleared of the offence by the Disciplinary Tribunal of World Athletics.
However, World Athletics and WADA appealed to CAS against that decision.
CAS confirmed the Challenged Decision in which the Word Anti-Doping Tribunal considered that Amusan did not violate Rule 2.4 of World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules and that no period of ineligibility should be imposed on the Athlete.
Amusan was initially charged with committing an Anti-Doping Rule Violation under Rule 2.4, following three alleged Whereabouts Failures within a 12-month period.
In their respective appeals to CAS, World Athletics and WADA had sought the imposition of a two-year period of ineligibility.
CAS said in a statement that its panel unanimously acknowledged that the Athlete committed two filing failures but did not confirm the existence of a missed test as alleged by World Athletics and WADA, which would have been the third Whereabouts Failure committed within a 12 month period.
Amusan set the world record of 12.12 seconds at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon, in July 2022 and went on to win the title in the semi finals before going on to win the gold medal in the final.
She finished sixth in the world championships in Budapest last year.
