Tim Simpson the manager of Israel Adesanya has revealed that the former middleweight champion is disappointed to miss out on a chance to fight on one of the biggest cards in Ultimate Fighting Championship, UFC history.
The UFC 300 event this weekend features a stacked lineup with a number of current and former champions but Adesanya, who twice held the middleweight title is not one of them.
The Nigerian previously said he wanted to fight current middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis but the South African was unable to make the date after a five-round battle with former champion, Sean Strickland at UFC 297 in January.
Du Plessis confirmed that he made the call not to fight Adesanya at UFC 300 and that decision did not sit well with the the former middleweight King.
Simpson remains confident Adesanya can book a title fight against Du Plessis on the upcoming UFC 305 card on August 17 in Perth, Australia.
Adesanya is coming off of a self-imposed break following a disappointing loss to Strickland in September 2023 which cost him the middleweight belt.
