Reports have emerged of the tragic demise of Herbert Wigwe, co-founder of Access Bank and founder of Wigwe University, following a helicopter crash in California, United States.
Wigwe, also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Access Holdings, the parent company of Access Bank, was aboard the helicopter with his wife, son, and three other passengers.
The chopper, en route to Las Vegas, crashed near the California-Nevada border on Friday night.
Unfortunately, there were no survivors, as confirmed by the United States government.
The helicopter, a Eurocopter EC130, was carrying a total of six people.
The crash occurred around 10:00 pm local time near Nipton, California, an unincorporated community approximately 60 miles south of Las Vegas in eastern San Bernardino County.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department was notified of the incident at 10:12 pm local time.
The crash site was identified as east of Interstate 15, near Halloran Springs Road.
While The New York Times has corroborated the incident, passengers’ names have not been officially disclosed, and no official statement has been issued on the tragic incident.
The entire party on board, including Herbert Wigwe, has been confirmed as deceased by the US Federal Aviation Administration.
