Nigeria, Africa’s top-ranked women’s football team, is set to host the reigning African champions, South Africa, in the first leg of their Women’s Olympic Football Tournament final qualifying fixture.
The match is scheduled to take place at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Friday, 5th April, with kickoff at 4 pm.
The encounter will be officiated by Algerian referee Ghada Mehat, supported by assistant referees Asma Feriel Ouahab and Lamia Atman, and fourth official Mariem Cheddad from Mauritania.
Referee assessor duties will be handled by Senegalese Fadouma Dia, and Ghanaian Chrstine Ziga will serve as the commissioner.
The return leg is slated for South Africa on Tuesday, 9th April, with Tunisian official Dorsaf Ganouati appointed as the referee.
She will be assisted by Houda Afine and Emna Ajbouni, with Yara Atef Abdelfattah from Egypt serving as assistant referee 2.
The role of referee assessor for this leg goes to Agar Mezing from Cameroon, while Cindy Dludlu from eSwatini will act as commissioner.
In the penultimate round, Nigeria’s Super Falcons secured victory over Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses with a single goal scored by Esther Okoronkwo at the MKO Abiola National Stadium.
Meanwhile, Banyana Banyana defeated Tanzania 4-0 over two legs in Dar es Salaam and Nelspruit.
The winner of this two-legged fixture in early April will join 15 other senior women’s teams from around the world for the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament, set to commence in Paris on 16th July.
