Samson Siasia has refuted claims of applying for the vacant Super Eagles Head Coach position, citing his ongoing suspension by FIFA.
He expressed disappointment at the timing of the job advertisement, stating that his suspension, which extends until August 2024, renders him ineligible.
Siasia emphasized that he would have considered the role had it been after the expiration of his ban.
Reflecting on the matter, Siasia lamented his predicament but acknowledged the circumstances beyond his control.
Regarding the prospect of hiring a foreign coach, Siasia voiced his disapproval, advocating for the recognition of talented Nigerian coaches, both domestically and abroad.
He urged the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to assess all applicants meticulously, emphasizing the importance of selecting a coach with a track record of success and adeptness in managing the team dynamics, particularly with foreign-based players.
Siasia pointed out notable Nigerian coaches, such as Finidi George, Emmanuel Amunike, and Salisu Yusuf, as viable options capable of surpassing the performances of past foreign coaches.
