The recent trend of away wins in Nigeria’s elite club competition continued on Monday as Shooting Stars Sports Club, 3SC beat Kano Pillars 2-1 at the Sani Abacha Stadium in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL.
Pillars, who were battered 5-0 by holders Enyimba in their previous game, were the better side in the opening exchanges.
The Evergreen Rabiu Ali struck after four minutes to hand the home team the lead.
3SC fought back immediately after the break with Taye Murtala netting the equaliser.
Former Flying Eagles striker Christian Pyagbara scored the winning goal for the visitors in stoppage time.
Shooting Stars are now sixth on the table with 46 points; three behind Remo Stars, who are third.
Four-time NPFL champions Kano Pillars are eighth on 41 points.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Heirs Holdings, Tony Elumelu, has expressed positive sentiments about the idea of acquiring a club in the NPFL.
Elumelu made this known on Monday via his X handle after reacting to a post from another user, who suggested that President Bola Tinubu and the Ministry of Sports should woo top companies in the country to own clubs in the NPFL.
The billionaire banker and philanthropist revealed that the Federal Government, through the Minister of Sports, Senator John Enoh, has reached out on the possibility and it is being evaluated as part of his Corporate Social responsibility.
