Super Eagles duo Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman showcased their talents as they featured in Napoli’s Serie A encounter against Atalanta, which ended in a 3-0 defeat for Napoli.
Osimhen, with 18 appearances under his belt, has been a prolific scorer for Napoli this season, tallying an impressive 11 goals and contributing three assists.
Meanwhile, Lookman has made 23 appearances for the club, finding the back of the net on eight occasions.
The match saw Atalanta asserting their dominance early on, with Aleksei Miranchuk coming close to breaking the deadlock within the first two minutes, only to see his effort ricochet off the base of the far post after a precise pass from Mario Pasalic.
Despite Osimhen’s diving header failing to trouble Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi, it was Atalanta who took the lead in a chaotic sequence of play.
The home side doubled their advantage just before halftime, as Gianluca Scamacca’s high press forced an error from Juan Jesus, allowing Miranchuk to capitalize and slot the ball into the bottom corner from outside the box.
In the second half, Napoli pressed forward in search of a comeback, but it was Atalanta who struck again on the counter-attack.
Substitute Teun Koopmeiners combined with Matteo Ruggeri before calmly dispatching his shot past Juan Jesus and into the bottom corner to seal the victory for Atalanta.
Despite Osimhen and Lookman’s efforts, Napoli ultimately fell short against a determined Atalanta side, suffering a disappointing defeat in Serie A action.
