Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen showcased a stellar performance, securing a hat-trick and providing an assist as Napoli dominated Sassuolo with a resounding 6-1 victory in the Serie A on Wednesday.
Osimhen’s outstanding contribution helped Napoli break a four-game winless streak (one defeat, three draws).
Having scored in his last three consecutive games, Osimhen’s first goal in the 31st minute set Napoli ahead 2-1.
His prolific performance continued with a second goal just before the halftime whistle, extending the lead to 3-1.
Early in the second half, Osimhen completed his hat-trick in the 47th minute, making it 4-1.
Not content with just scoring, Osimhen turned provider, setting up Kvicha Kvaratskhelia for Napoli’s fifth goal in the 51st minute.
This emphatic victory propelled Napoli to ninth place in the league table with 40 points after 15 games in the season.
Osimhen’s remarkable tally now stands at 10 goals in the Italian topflight this season, reaffirming his status as a key player for the reigning Serie A champions and the current African Player of the Year.
