Super Eagles’ prolific striker, Victor Osimhen, seamlessly reacquainted himself with his Napoli teammates during Friday’s training session following his return from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, as confirmed by the Serie A champions on their official website.
In an official statement, Napoli announced Osimhen’s full return to training, highlighting that he engaged in personalized recovery work on the pitch.
The club emphasized that this tailored recovery program will persist into the upcoming sessions, underlining their commitment to ensuring Osimhen’s optimal fitness.
Despite his return to training, the 25-year-old striker is set to miss the Serie A clash against Genoa on Saturday, allowing him adequate time for recovery and integration back into the team.
Osimhen had arrived in Naples on Thursday after representing Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations, where the Super Eagles reached the final, succumbing to a 2-1 defeat against hosts Cote d’Ivoire.
Notably, during their stay in Nigeria, the Super Eagles were hosted by President Bola Tinubu in a display of recognition and appreciation for their achievements in the tournament.
While Osimhen’s return was initially anticipated on Wednesday, unforeseen circumstances led to a delay in his travel plans, with the striker eventually landing in Naples on Thursday evening.
The meticulous approach taken by Napoli in Osimhen’s rehabilitation underscores the club’s commitment to the player’s well-being as they navigate the Serie A season.
