Lagos State police have started a manhunt after they declared one Tajudeen Olanrewaju Bakare popularly known as “Oba Ogboni” wanted for possession of illegal arms and breach of public peace while vowing to deal with anyone caught engaging in similar act.
Bakare was declared wanted on Thursday, following the emergence of a video showing him wielding a pump action rifle and threatening public peace of people in Surulere area of Lagos state earlier in the week.
Working on actionable intelligence, the CSP Egbeyemi-led Rapid Response Squad (RRS), carried out a sting operation on Bakare’s residence in Surulere area and recovered some arms.
Found in the suspect’s residence were three pump action rifles, one Beretta pistol magazine, one expended 9mm ammunition, one expended and three live cartridges and a picture frame of the suspect.
The police therefore declared the suspect, who narrowly escaped arrest wanted, adding that, anyone with useful information leading to his arrest would be highly appreciated and treated with utmost confidentiality.
In a statement by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, the command while appreciating Lagosians for their vigilance and prompt information to security agencies, seized the opportunity to warn troublemakers to steer clear of the state as anyone found wanting would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
