In a surprising turn of events at Old Trafford, Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey emerged as the heroes, securing a remarkable 2-1 victory for Fulham against Manchester United.
This triumph marked Fulham’s first win over United since December 19, 2009, and Iwobi’s late strike made him the first Fulham player to score a winning goal at Old Trafford since Steed Malbranque in October 2003.
Iwobi, with four Premier League goals this season, and Bassey, scoring his first-ever goal for Fulham, played pivotal roles in the 65th minute when Bassey volleyed into the net off a rebound from a corner, giving Fulham the lead.
Despite Harry Maguire’s late goal for United in the 89th minute, Iwobi clinched the win in the 97th minute.
Collecting a pass from a counter, he skillfully cut inside and shot into the net, leaving Andre Onana stranded.
Meanwhile, at Villa Park, Taiwo Awoniyi provided an assist for Nottingham Forest in their 4-2 loss to Aston Villa.
Despite Forest pulling a goal back just before halftime, with Awoniyi setting up Moussa Niakhate to make it 3-1, the Super Eagles striker was replaced by Divock Origi before the start of the second half.
