Hosts, Germany spanked Scotland 5-1 as Euro 2024 began on Friday in Munich.
The tone was set in an electric Allianz Arena after just 10 minutes as Bayer Leverkusen star, Florian Wirtz waltzed on to the ball to steer in the opener.
Bayern Munich midfielder, Jamal Musiala then made scores 2-0 in the minute with a ferocious strike in the 19th minute as the hosts established dominance in the Group A encounter.
Scotland’s woes were compounded in the 44th minute when Ryan Porteous was sent off.
Arsenal forward Kai Havertz then made scores 3-0 when he converted a penalty just before half-time.
Substitute Niclas Fullkrug hammered in the fourth goal for Germany before Antonio Rudiger deflected in an own goal to give Scotland fans something to cheer as they celebrated wildly.
However, Germany had the last laugh as Emre Can silenced the Scots with Germany’s 5th goal in injury time.
The goal ensured this would be the biggest win in an opening game of a Euros.
The competition continues today with matches in different groups.
