Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh, has prayed for the swift recovery to the players and officials of Doma United Football Club following a road accident on their way home from the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL Matchday 35 fixture in Owerri.
While there were no fatalities, several players sustained various degrees of injuries and are currently receiving treatment.
Enoh said in a release signed by his Special Assistant, Diana-Mary Nsan prayed for a quick and full recovery to all those affected.
Meanwhile, the Minister has urged clubs to actively pursue partnerships with airlines to facilitate safer travel for long-distance journeys.
In a related development, NPFL Chairman, Honourable Gbenga Elegbeleye also sent a solidarity message to the Chairman and Management of Doma United over the unfortunate incident.
Elegbeleye who put a call through to Suleiman Umar, expressed his sympathies on behalf of the NPFL Board and Management, noting that he was happy no lives were lost in the accident.
Doma United were on their way to Gombe Gombe when their bus skidded off the road along the Makurdi-Lafia expressway due to heavy rains.
