Nigeria Football Federation Technical Director, Austin Eguavoen led twenty Super Eagles players in their first training session ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda on Tuesday.
The only players who did not take part in the session were the trio of Kelechi Iheanacho of Sevilla, Udinese goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye and African Footballer of the year, Victor Osimhen who is busy completing his loan move to Turkish giants, Galatasaray.
Iheanacho is expected to arrive on Wednesday while Okoye and Osimhen will hit camp on Thursday.
Captain William Troost-Ekong Ekong arrived camp on Monday with the earliest set of players which included defenders Ola Aina, Semi Ajayi, and Olisa Ndah, midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru as well as forwards Ademola Lookman and Taiwo Awoniyi.
Other early arrivals were goalkeeper Amas Obasogie, midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, striker Victor Boniface and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali who joined in the evening.
On Tuesday morning, defender Calvin Bassey, midfielders Alex Iwobi and Frank Onyeka arrived, before defender Benjamin Tanimu who was drafted in to replace Bright Osayi-Samuel, midfielder Alhassan Yusuf, forwards Moses Simon and Samuel Chukwueze hit the camp.
In the evening, just before the team bus pulled out of the hotel for training, defender Bruno Onyemaechi and midfielder Raphael Onyedika arrived camp.
After taking on the Chettah’s of Benin Republic on Saturday, the Super Eagles will fly to Kigali on Sunday for Tuesday’s Match-day 2 clash with the Amavubi of Rwanda.
