Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong made a triumphant return to competitive action by scoring the winning goal for his Greek club, PAOK in their UEFA Champions League Playoff Qualifiers win against FK Borac on Wednesday.
Ekong’s goal which came in the 51st minute with scores at 2-2 secured a crucial victory for PAOK.
It marked his first competitive start since February when he was sidelined by an injury.
Konatatinos Koulierakis put the Greek side 1-0 up in the 17th minute before Sebastian Hererra equalised for FK Borac in the 21st.
Koulierakis scored again in the 39th minute to put PAOK 2-1 before Enver Kulasin drew Borac level just before half time.
Ekong’s contribution will be remembered as a key moment for PAOK in their UEFA Champions League journey.
In other playoff games on Wednesday, Ludogorets beat Dinamo Minsk 2-0 while Celje and Slovan Bratislava played out a 1-1 draw.
