Ahead of the September 21st gubernatorial election in Edo State, the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has inaugurated a 363-member campaign council.
The State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, while speaking at the event Benin city expressed confidence that the party will get up to 80 percent of the total votes cast to win the election for its candidate, Asue Ighodalo.
The Governor said Ighodalo as the PDP candidate would continue from where he would stop.
Speaking earlier, the State Chairman of the PDP, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, revealed that the campaign council consist of 363 members, excluding the women and youth wings.
He said all hands must be on deck to ensure the PDP wins the September 21st governor ship election.
The Director-General of the Edo state governorshio campaign council, Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, in his acceptance speech, thanked the Governor and PDP faithful for the opportunity given him to serve the party.
Iduoriyekemwen, however, promised to lead the party to victory come September.
He told the party’s supporter not to celebrate now but to work wait till September 22nd when the results will be announced by the Independent National Electoral commission.
In his remarks, the PDP governorship candidate, Barr. Asue Ighodalo, who thanked party faithful and leaders for the confidence repose in him, said Obaseki had laid a foundation in every sector that he would build upon.
Asue said he has accepted to serve the party faithfully in the new capacity Edo state will be the number one sub sovereign in Africa.
The PDP says the structure of the campaign council is rooted in all the 192 wards across the state.
The party also revealed that every organ of the party has been captured to Carry everyone along.
