Bendel Insurance Football Club returned to winning ways in the Nigeria Premier Football League with a 2-0 thumping of Gombe United at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in a Match-Day 24 encounter on Friday.
Striker, Sarki Ismael was the hero for the home side as he scored a brace to help Insurance stroll past the Desert Scorpions and end their recent goal drought.
Ismael who wears jersey number 7, opened scoring in the 7th minute after picking a through pass from Osaghae Junior, rounded Gombe United Goalkeeper Itodo Akor, before slotting the ball into an empty net.
Sarki pounced on another fine pass from Chisom Okereke to score the second goal for the home side in the 30th minute to give Insurance their first win since resumption of the NPFL second round.
Bendel Insurance suffered a 1-0 defeat away to Sporting Lagos on resumption of the second round and played out a goalless draw with Enyimba in Benin City before losing 1-0 to Shooting Stars in Ibadan and 2-0 to Plateau United in Jos.
The win over Gombe United takes Insurance to 7th on the table on 34 points from 24 matches.
Their next game is an away fixture in Uyo on Wednesday against Akwa United.
