The Ondo State House of Assembly, during a Thursday plenary led by Speaker Olamide Oladiji, screened and ratified Olayide Adelami, former Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly, as the Deputy Governor of the state.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa submitted Adelami’s nomination letter, and the screening committee, led by Deputy Speaker Abayomi Akinruntan, confirmed Adelami’s reputable character, exposure, and fitness for the role.
Adelami expressed gratitude, considering his appointment a call of duty, and pledged to work for Ondo State’s development, fostering a harmonious relationship between the executive and legislature.
The Speaker affirmed legislative support for the executive, envisioning rapid development for Ondo State with Adelami’s confirmation.
Aiyedatiwa, sworn in as governor in December 2023, selected Adelami as his deputy following Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s demise.
