The Super sand Eagles of Nigeria made a triumphant return to Beach Soccer with a 5-4 win over Mauritania in the first leg of the 2024 African Beach Soccer Nations Cup qualifiers on Saturday in Nouakchott.
The Super Sand Eagles had been off the international scene for the past five years until the current Nigeria Football Federation Board led by President Ibrahim Gusau revived the team recently.

However, with experienced players such as Victor Tale, Emeka Ogbonna, Arome Isah and Adams Taiwo in the team, the Super Sand Eagles prevailed over their hosts.
The return leg is scheduled for Saturday, July 27 in Nigeria.
In another game played on Saturday, 2025 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup hosts, the Seychelles lost 7-3 at home to Mozambique.
14 teams are playing in the qualifiers to determine seven slots at the 2024 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by Egypt from August 26 to 31.
