Nigeria Football Federation President, Ibrahim Gusau has revealed that the NFF will in a couple of days, name a new coach for the Super Eagles.
Speaking with Sports Village Square Gusau in Nantes, France on Monday, Gusau said the NFF Technical Committee has already short-listed three coaches from which one of them will be chosen.
Sports Village Square reports that although the NFF President declined to mention the names of the shortlisted candidates as he would not want to interfere with the Technical Committees assignment, current coach of the France womens team, Herve Renard is among the three being considered.
Renard’s contract with France expires at the end of the Olympics on the 11th of August.
The Frenchman is one of the most sought after coaches in Africa having guided Zambia and Cote dIvoire to Nations Cup successes in 2012 and 2015 as well as being in charge of Saudi Arabia when they stunned eventual world champions Argentina 2-1 at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The Super Eagles who have been without a coach since Finidi George resigned in June, will host Benin Republic in Uyo on the 2nd of September in an AFCON 2025 qualifiers.
Benin defeated Nigeria 2-1 in the 2026 World Cup qualifier last month, in Finidi’s last game in charge of the Eagles.
