President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation Musa Kida has confirmed that Rena Wakama will be retained as the head coach of DTigress following their historic run at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Kida praised Wakama for her leadership and achievements which include leading Nigeria’s women’s basketball team to victory at the 2023 AfroBasket and securing Olympic qualification, where D’Tigress became the first African team to reach the quarterfinals.
The 32-year-old was recognized by Federation of International Basketball Association, FIBA as the best women’s coach at the Olympics.
Kida highlighted the teams strong preparation and strategic planning, noting that Wakamas strategy of blending new and experienced players contributed to their success.
