There was cheering news for Team Nigeria in athletics as Favour Ofili qualified for the final of women’s 200 meters event, Monday evening.
Star Girl as she is fondly called, executed a good race plan to finish second in her semi-finals to book an automatic qualification spot for the final.
Ofili clocked a Season’s Best time of 22.05 seconds to finish just behind 100 meters champion, Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia who won in 21.98 seconds.
Ofili’s time was the third fastest in the qualifiers raising excitement in the Team Nigeria camp about the prospects of a medal in the final coming up at 8:40pm on Tuesday.
