Nigeria Falconets beat Australia 2-1 on Friday in a friendly game as they intensified preparations for the 2024 FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.
After the game, the Australians requested for a penalty shootout which Nigeria also won 5-4.
An official of the Nigeria Football Federation who was with team, commended the players and officials for their performance against the Australian team
The Falconets are in Group D with Germany, Venezuela and South Korea.
The NFF deliberately scheduled a two-week camping for the team to acclimatize to the Colombian weather and perfect their strategy ahead of their first group match match versus South Korea on Monday the 2nd of September.
They will then face Germany on September 4 before taking on Venezuela in their last group match.
The 2024 FIFA Under-20 women’s world cup is scheduled from August 31 to September 22, 2024.
It will be the third time that Colombia has hosted a FIFA tournament.
It will also be the first time that Colombia has hosted a FIFA women’s tournament.
Spain are the defending champions.
